Students Explore Career Options During Take Our Kids to Work Day

* Education and Early Childhood Development [to May 2015]
Grade nine students from across the province will experience a typical day at the office today as they head into the workplace with their parents or other volunteer host employees.

Take Our Kids to Work, a national program that invites students to shadow adults in the workplace for a day, provides a terrific showcase for young people as they consider career possibilities.

“There is a greater emphasis on exploring careers through our education curriculum,” says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Gerard Greenan. “The Take Our Kids to Work program provides a great opportunity for our students to explore potential opportunities for their future field of study,” he said.

Today, students will be hosted by professionals in all sectors including education, the arts, media, law, healthcare, sports, business, labour, technology and government. Students will return to their classroom prepared to provide a report about their work-day experience.

“I want to acknowledge the support of the many employees in our Island community who have given so generously of their time to host these students in the workplace today,” said Minister Greenan.
