Showcasing Prince Edward Island at the Paralympic Games

Premier's Office
After the huge success of the 2010 Olympic Games, Prince Edward Island is excited to once again showcase what we have to offer during the 2010 Paralympic Games, March 12-21.

“Our Island’s culture, tourism, talent, culinary, business and hospitality will be on display at the Paralympic Games,” said Premier Ghiz. “We are pleased to be re-opening Atlantic Canada House and partnering with the other Atlantic provinces to host a support luncheon for athletes and their families.”

For three days during the 2010 Vancouver Paralympic Winter Games, Atlantic Canada House will once again open its doors, but this time in Whistler. From great performers to incredible cuisine, Atlantic Canada House will highlight the rich and varied culture of this region. Island artists Paper Lions and Two Hours Traffic will be showcased at Atlantic Canada House. Culinary delights, including specific recipes and products from PEI will be featured at Atlantic Canada House, including daily tastings and demonstrations.

In addition to welcoming visitors in the House, Atlantic Canada is showing it’s support for the Paralympic Games with presence at the medal ceremony and visual awareness at both Paralympic venues and throughout the village. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see a variety of equipment used by Paralympians and sign a card wishing them well in competition.

“Prince Edward Island is proud to support the Paralympic Games,” said Premier Ghiz. “Best wishes to our athletes and artists as they participate in this incredible event.”

Atlantic Canada House is a pan-Atlantic partnership comprised of the Government of Canada, represented by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and the Governments of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Atlantic Canada House at the Paralympic Games was a commitment made by the Council of Atlantic Canadian Premiers to show support for Canadian paralympians and the paralympic movements.
