PEI Liquor Control Commission is extending lives one “paper heart” at a time

PEI Liquor Control Commission launches 3rd Annual Paper Hearts promotion in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation

The PEI Liquor Control Commission (PEILCC) is partnering with the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation during the month of February as part of the annual Paper Hearts campaign. This fundraiser will run in all 18 PEILCC corporate retail outlets across the province starting on February 1 through to February 28.

“We are delighted to have the PEI Liquor Control Commission on board again this year for Paper Hearts,” said Charlotte Comrie, Chief Executive Officer, PEI, Heart and Stroke Foundation. “Over the past two years, they have provided extraordinary support to this campaign, helping to raise significant dollars toward our work on PEI.”

Each $2 paper heart purchased at a PEILCC corporate retail outlet will be displayed in-store to showcase the support from the community. The PEILCC has helped to generate in excess of $15,000 through this campaign over the last two years.

“The PEILCC is pleased to continue its partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation for a third year,” noted Hon. Robert Henderson, minister responsible for the PEI Liquor Control Commission. “The Commission appreciates the opportunity to encourage its customers to pursue a healthy lifestyle.”

“Over the past 60 years, thanks to the work of the Foundation and the generosity of individuals and businesses, the death rate from heart disease and stroke has declined by over 75 per cent,” commented Comrie. “But with many lives still cut short or compromised by these devastating diseases, we remain committed to helping Islanders to live longer, fuller lives, and we thank the PEILCC for helping us to fulfill that goal.”
