Community groups, organizations and the public are encouraged to nominate seniors in their communities for the 2015 Prince Edward Island Senior Islanders of the Year Award, says Minister of Family and Human Services Doug Currie.
"The Prince Edward Island Senior Islanders of the Year Award highlights the important role that Island seniors play in community and family life," said Minister Currie. "These awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the variety of contributions older adults make and recognize leaders and mentors of our communities."
The annual award recognizes the significant contributions of Island seniors in many areas of community life including: volunteerism, artistic achievement, fund raising, community participation, career achievements, fitness/recreation and other activities.
The deadline for nominations for the 2015 PEI Senior Islanders of the Year Award is July 15. Nominations will be reviewed by members of the Prince Edward Island Seniors' Secretariat.
To be eligible for an award, nominees must be:
a current resident of Prince Edward Island;
65 years of age or older; and
willing to be nominated.
