Islanders invited to learn about the royal visit and share photos and stories from previous visits

Islanders are invited to visit the government website to learn about the 2011 Royal Tour and submit photos and stories about past visits, says Premier Robert Ghiz.

“The website is a place where Islanders can learn about the 2011 Royal Tour to Prince Edward Island,” said Premier Ghiz. “While providing information and offering archives of historical royal visits, Islanders can also learn more about Prince Edward Island’s long-standing relationship with the Royal Family and the role the monarchy plays in our government.”

Over the coming seven weeks, the 2011 Royal Tour website will be regularly updated to include Royal Tour details, announcements and public advisories.

Royal watchers can also follow the lead up to the 2011 Royal Tour on Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. Followers will be the first to receive updates as new information becomes available and will be able to post questions, give feedback and upload their own historical royal visit photos.

“Prince Edward Island has welcomed many members of the Royal Family throughout its history,” said Premier Ghiz, “Islanders are proud of our long-standing relationship with the Royal Family and delighted Their Royal Highnesses – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – have included Prince Edward Island in their first official international tour as a married couple.”
