The implementation of the French Language Services Act continues for the benefit of all Islanders who wish to access programs and services in French, says Premier Wade MacLauchlan, Minister Responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs.
“This report highlights the first full cycle of planning, implementing and reporting on the Act since its proclamation in December 2013,” Premier MacLauchlan said. “The provincial government will continue to actively collaborate with the Acadian and Francophone community to contribute to its vitality and to enhance programs and services in French.”
The objective of the Act is to provide a framework for offering programs and services in French by aligning priorities identified by the Acadian and Francophone community with government’s capacity to offer these programs and services.
The purpose of the 2014-2015 Annual Report on the French Language Services Act is:
• To ensure government accountability in the implementation of the Act;
• To provide an overview of the work of the Acadian and Francophone Affairs Secretariat;
• To highlight the contribution of the 20 government institutions subject to the Act in relation to programs and services offered in French;
• To report on complaints received.
The report is available in French and English on the Acadian and Francophone Affairs Secretariat website at www.ipeservicesfrancais.ca (website available in both French and English).
