A workshop is coming up this weekend for women who want to learn more about canoeing, fly and bait fishing, and fish and plant identification.
The workshop, Becoming an Outdoors Woman, is being held at the Souris Striders Ski Lodge near Harmony Junction on the Souris Line Road on June 8 and 9.
The workshop is aimed primarily at women, but it is also an opportunity for anyone 18 years of age or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing, but useful for many outdoor activities.
The workshop is sponsored by the Wildlife Conservation Fund in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Fish and Wildlife section and the Souris Wildlife Federation. Staff from the department will once again volunteer as some of the instructors during the weekend event.
Experience is not required for the workshop, and it is designed for various fitness levels. The workshop sessions are provided in a supportive environment which allows individual learning and is a great way to make friends and have fun with like-minded individuals.
The workshop begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Registration is free but is limited to 40 participants.
