October 24, 2000 The West Royalty Industrial Park is experiencing its greatest success since the early 1980's. The park now houses 47 businesses, employs more than 1500 employees and is virtually at full capacity. When the West Royalty Industrial Park was first established in 1975, it concentrated its efforts on attracting new manufacturing businesses to Prince Edward Island. Today, the park has diversified to include businesses from a variety of sectors including biotechnology, information technology, telecommunications, engineering as well as its core base of manufacturing firms. "Quality developments, such as the West Royalty Industrial Park, are major attractions for businesses establishing or expanding in Prince Edward Island," said the Honourable Michael F. Currie, Minister of Development and Technology. "Business parks provide the infrastructure needed to attract private sector investment and encourage economic growth in the province. I am pleased to see the West Royalty Industrial Park doing so well and look forward to seeing the growth that other business parks will bring to the Island."Media Contact: Kandace McEntee
