He exemplified the true spirit of a great Olympian, Canadian and Islander,” Premier Ghiz said. “The way he performed in the Men’s 4x100-metre relay – and conducted himself after – is a testament to the integrity and determination that brought him to the 2012 Summer Olympics.” Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie said Connaughton has been a very positive role model for young Island athletes. “As Minister responsible for sport, I’m very proud of what Jared Connaughton represents as a person and an athlete.
