A short six months after announcing that Charlottetown would be the location of a second Canadian call centre for Watts Communications Limited, The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, Premier of Prince Edward Island, officially cut the ribbon for PEI's first "state-of-the-art" telemarketing call centre.

Watts Communications is the oldest and one of the largest telemarketing companies in Canada. This new call centre represents a multi-million dollar investment and will employ up to 240 telephone service representatives.

"Not long ago the Province, through Enterprise PEI, produced a strategy to further develop the information technology sector and attract long-term jobs to the province," said Catherine Callbeck, Premier of Prince Edward Island. "This official opening proves that this strategy is working."

Colin Taylor, President of Watts Communications thanked Island Tel for its assistance in getting the new call centre operational in such a short period of time. In addition to taking advantage of the all fibre-optic network of Island Tel (one of the most advanced in the country), the new call centre boasts the latest in ACD (Automatic Call Distributor) hardware and Perimeter Management Software.

Taylor reports that he expects that the new Charlottetown Inbound Centre, one of the most technically advanced in North America, will enhance Watts' position as one of the most dominant players in the inbound call centre business in Canada and the United States.

The new centre will serve Watts Communications clients across all of Canada and the United States, many of whom were on hand to help celebrate the official opening on July 10.
