Watts Communications Completes First Round Of Hiring

* Economic Development [to Jul 1998]
In anticipation of the first phone call on May 31, 1996, Watts has hired 22 people to start answering phones for Canon Canada's Help Desk. Late last month Watts also hired the call centre manager for their Charlottetown location and it is expected that more hiring will be done next month. The technical service representatives are currently undergoing training on the various Canon products to prepare them for the calls.

In existence since 1993, the Canon ‘24 Hour Help' service provides technical support to hundreds of thousands of Canon customers each year. This service has been provided to date by Watts in the head office call centre in Toronto.

‘We are very pleased that Enterprise PEI has been able to complete the building renovations on schedule in the West Royalty Industrial Park,' said Colin Taylor, President of Watts Communications. ‘By fulfilling their commitment to us, we can fulfill our commitment to Canon to begin answering the phones on May 31.'

The centres in Charlottetown and Toronto currently support 150 stations and receive calls from 25 countries around the world.
