July 6, 1998 Island residents are advised that a safety problem has been discovered with the product named Veilleuse Night Light. This product is distributed by Lidco, North York, Ontario, and was sold here on the Island by the Bi-Way stores. There are several different models of this night light, each bearing a different cover (green dragon, cross, Jesus figure). The models involved bear the registration number E144970. Tests indicate that when the night light is pulled from the wall receptacle, the cover may come away from the light. This exposes bare, electrically energized wires and contacts, which may pose a fire hazard or, if touched, could result in electrocution and severe injury or death. The Bi-Way stores voluntarily removed this item from their shelves in March, 1998. Anyone still in possession of a Veilleuse Night Light is advised to discard it or to return it to the nearest Bi-Way store for a full refund.
