Unravel The Mystery: 1999 Library Week Theme

* Education [to Apr 2008]
"Unravel the Mystery" is the theme for Library Week, September 20-26, 1999. As the theme suggests, libraries are a great place for Islanders to find answers to just about anything that puzzles them. Library Week celebrates the role that PEI's 24 public libraries play in the provision of information, reading and listening materials to Islanders of all ages.

"Island libraries contain a wealth of information of interest to all Islanders," says the Honourable Chester Gillan, Minister of Education. "Fostering a love for reading within our schools, families and communities is a key priority of the Provincial Library Service."

During Library Week, public libraries across the province will be hosting a wide variety of events including open houses, story times for children, family Internet cafes and much more. Throughout the week, patrons who borrow books will have their names entered to win a newly designed library book bag and will receive a commemorative AbbyCat bookmark. Each library will give away one book bag.

Admission to all Library Week events is free and everyone is welcome. A full schedule of Library Week events can be found on the Provincial Library website: www.library.pe.ca or by contacting a local branch library.
