Hart and Jean Lidstone have been posthumously honoured for their community contributions, says Community Services and Seniors Minister Valerie E. Docherty.

The seniors complex located at 8 Lidstone Lane in Tyne Valley was officially named The Lidstone Seniors Complex in a celebration this afternoon. The residence was built on land donated by Mr. and Mrs. Lidstone.

“We are pleased to honour Mr. and Mrs. Lidstone in this way,” said Minister Docherty. “Jean Lidstone was a teacher in Tyne Valley and a founder of the Tyne Valley Theater Players. Hart Lidstone was the operator of the general store, and they were both well known for their community contributions.”

Minister Docherty, accompanied by Paula Biggar, MLA for District 23 Tyne Valley - Linkletter, unveiled a new sign, visited with residents and toured both seniors complexes in the community.

The Department of Community Services and Seniors operates housing units throughout the province for families and seniors who need assistance to obtain affordable, appropriate homes. For more information call 368-5770 or go to www.gov.pe.ca/housing .
