Two companies will locate in Prince Edward Island this spring, creating 65 new jobs. Snairs Golden Grain, a commercial bread company, has chosen a location in Borden Carleton to set up their new facility.
The company will move into a 10,000 square foot location at the Borden Industrial Mall, using an existing building. Renovations are already underway.
The company plans to be fully operational in July 2005.
When they are up and running, Snairs will employ 15 people.
Their new location is ideal for the company. Snairs Golden Grain is a commercial producer of bread, and the company has an excellent reputation for its Snairs bread brand products which have been sold in Nova Scotia grocery stores for over half a century. Proximity to the bridge will give them access to its export markets.
They will also be close to their newest clients – Atlantic Prepared Foods in Bloomfield. That company has received final approval from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and construction has resumed.
The company intends to be fully operational by the end of June.
Initially, Atlantic Prepared Foods will initially employ 25 people in West Prince, with a further 25 employees added as operations ramp up.
“These are two excellent companies who have chosen to move to PEI because of our great business environment and our spirit of co-operation,” said Development and Technology Minister Mike Currie. “We welcome them – and we welcome the 65 jobs they will create.”
