Trail Closure – Confederation Trail, Charlottetown – MacAleer Drive to Royalty Junction Road

A section of the Confederation Trail through Charlottetown will be closed and detoured from May 6 until mid-July due to sanitary sewer construction work in the right of way.

The trail will be closed from MacAleer Drive to Royalty Junction Road. The detour will be as follows:

• MacAleer Drive to Brackley Point Road;

• On the paved trail along Brackley Point Road (where the Confederation Trail crosses the road);

• Rejoin Confederation Trail near the intersection of Brackley Point Road and Royalty Junction Road.

Following inspection of a bridge structure, the Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy is closing the crossing on Route 259, Settlement Road.

This bridge is located near the intersection of Settlement Road and South Montague Road, Route 353.

Guardrails will be installed across the roadway.

Road Closure – Hermitage Road, Monticello

Due to safety concerns regarding a bridge structure, the Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy is closing the roadway on Hermitage Road in Monticello.

This is a seasonal road located between Route 308 and the Hughey Joseph Road. There are no residence or field accesses on this road.

A recent inspection found that the water crossing – a steel arch structure – is beyond repair and will require replacement.

Guardrails have been installed across the roadway.

Construction resumes – Bagnall’s Pond Bridge Project – Route 13 – Hunter River

Construction activity on the bridge project on Route 13 in Hunter River will resume Monday May 2.

This will begin the second and final phase of construction for this project.

Work is expected to last two to three weeks with minor periodic delays‎ to the travelling public. Flaggers will be on site throughout the construction period.
