The 2004 Marketing and Media Plan was released today by Tourism PEI and the Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) in Charlottetown at the Tourism Industry Association of PEI’s Tourism Conference 2004. Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism joined Jeannette Arsenault, Co-Chair for the Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) in announcing details for the new campaign.
“The theme of the evening event, ‘Tourism in Transition: Looking Back, Moving Forward’ validates the go-forward nature of the industry as we react to outside influences on travel motivators,” noted Mr. Brown. “We are aware of the climate in our industry but we are moving forward, confident in our research and marketing, and we feel tourism will do well in the coming years.”
The annual presentation showcases research-based marketing approaches to members of the tourism industry of Prince Edward Island before the plan is delivered to the customer, the travelling public.
“Marketing for the 2004 season blends some new with some of our more successful campaigns of the past and we feel it will effectively capture the interest of travellers,” noted TMA Co-Chair, Ms. Jeannette Arsenault. “Some examples include our new commercials which are targeted to the family and couples market, a new print campaign in New England, a new look for www.peiplay.com, new magazine advertising, a promotional partnership with the golf industry on the Island and a new marketing blitz in the Quebec market.”
“Our industry bears new results every year and we are very excited about the potential for 2004,” added Mr. Brown. “Tourism has developed an even stronger bond between the industry and government and we have many achievements to be proud of since the end of our last season. These positive changes should result in more tourism expenditures in our province for this and coming years.”
