Islanders who work in tourism are essential to the success of the tourism industry on Prince Edward Island, says Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Vessey.
Following a visit to the tourism industry’s annual Tourism Job Fair, Minister Vessey said that skilled and knowledgeable personnel enable the Island to compete as a destination of choice in the global tourism industry. “The tourism industry offers rewarding short-term employment and long-term career opportunities in communities throughout the Island. Tourism is key to our economic growth and I congratulate the many partners who worked so hard to make this year’s job fair an outstanding success.”
The Tourism Job Fair is an annual event that allows job seekers and tourism employers to recruit, interview, hire and advertise in one location. Participants had the opportunity to network with nearly 30 exhibitors, representing 70 businesses that are expecting to hire over 500 new employees.
TIAPEI President Thom MacMillan says, “The tourism job fair is a perfect venue for employers and job seekers to mix. For job seekers it is a one-stop opportunity to find full or part-time employment.”
