Government offices, businesses and education centres across the province will be opening their doors to the public for Information Technology (IT) Week in PEI through November 23-28. There will be a wide variety of open houses, demonstrations and events held throughout the week, providing Islanders unique access and exposure to some of the mysteries of the digital age.
IT Week in PEI will showcase PEI's advances in Information Technology, and give Islanders an insider's view into the current and future world of technology. Activities during the week will demonstrate how IT affects everything, from service delivery, careers and lifelong learning to employment and business opportunities.
Visitors and guests will be exposed to a variety of different activities and learning opportunities including what computer systems are in place to protect us from power outage disasters, to what types of software Island companies are creating for IT markets around the world. There are opportunities for people to surf the Internet, see and understand what goes on inside and outside computers, talk to experts about the future of Information Technology in PEI and obtain information on IT related careers and training courses.
Topping off the week will be a three-day "Wired for the Future IT Fair" featuring workshops, exhibits, key note speakers, entertainment and a gala dinner. The fair will be held from Thursday to Saturday, November 26-28 at the Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown. Admission is $25 for the three days.
