May 26, 2004 The tenth annual PEI Wine Festival set records for both attendance and sales. The festival was held on Friday and Saturday in Charlottetown and is managed by the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission. A record $132,000 worth of wine was sold during the event. Five hundred and fifty nine people attended the festival over the two days. “I’d like to congratulate the staff at the PEI Liquor Control Commission for making this event such a success”, said Mike Currie, Minister responsible for the Liquor Control Commission. “This years’s festival was the most ambitious yet - and the most successful. A number of the exhibitors said our festival is the very best in Atlantic Canada.” The festival featured 31 exhibitors and 170 varieties of wine from all over the world.
