Team PEI Makes Solid Impression at Softworld '99

Team PEI delegates who have attended Softworld ‘99 in Vancouver, Canada's largest conference dedicated to innovation in the software industry, have benefited from new opportunities to network, learn and showcase Prince Edward Island's information technology skills and expertise.

Scott Ferris, the Director of Marketing and Communications of Simscape, took front stage centre on Tuesday morning, the second day of the conference by participating in Seven Minutes of Fame. This venue provides a delegate with the undivided attention and opportunity to impress potential customers and investors at Softworld ‘99.

"Impress them, he did," according to Des Lecky, CEO, Technology PEI. "While other executives simply showed bar graphs and financial statements, Scott entertained and educated the packed audience with a James Bond, top secret briefing of Simscape's experiences and capabilities in utility management software and multimedia software development."

Simscape is a software and multimedia development company located in Charlottetown and is one of several companies represented on Team PEI at Softworld ‘99.

During the same time period on Tuesday, several members of the Team PEI Delegation met with Gaylen Duncan, CEO and President of the Information Technologies Association of Canada (ITAC). The group discussed plans to submit a bid to host Softworld 2002 and other information technology issues.

The Information Technologies Association of Canada (ITAC) is the recognized voice of the Canadian information technologies industry and is the founding sponsor of the Softworld event. Mr. Ed Lawlor, President of the Information Technologies Association of PEI, is a member of the ITAC National Board.
