Team PEI Launches Softworld '99 Official Update Website

Proving the power of the Internet and the ingenuity of the TEAM PEI delegates, Islanders can now track the success of TEAM PEI at Softworld '99. The website can be found at www.silverorange.com/teampei and is jointly created by a TEAM PEI delegation committee. Guests to the site will find photos and stories highlighting the activities, events and deals being made by TEAM PEI. The site will be updated each day until Wednesday, November 10, 1999.

Dedicated to the world of information technology (IT), Softworld '99 provides software developers and suppliers with the opportunity to increase their profile and build strategic partnerships with companies from around the world. TEAM PEI is among the more than 800 delegates from 13 countries attending the deal-making event.

"I am both proud and confident of the 23 members assembled here in Vancouver," says Minister of Technology and Environment, Mitch Murphy. "Already, many of them have had discussions that will strengthen their companies and diversify the IT industry on PEI."

TEAM PEI is furthering its profile at the Softworld '99 Marketplace. This unique exhibit features close to 100 IT companies displaying their capabilities with a view to making deals on site. The eight companies comprising TEAM PEI are all featured at the team's booth. "This exciting opportunity, in particular, will open several doors for TEAM PEI," says Minister Murphy. "Representing the Province, I am here to fully support the efforts of our delegates wherever possible."

Softworld was founded by the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC), an association which represents thirteen hundred companies in the computing, telecommunications hardware, software, services and e-commence sectors. This network of companies accounts for more than 70% of the 500,000 jobs, $100 billion in revenue, and $3.6 billion in annual research and development spending and $27 billion in annual exports that IT contributes to the Canadian economy.
