Team Atlantic Trade Mission Now On The Internet

Premier's Office
Members of the Team Atlantic Trade Mission are pleased to offer detailed information regarding the New England Trade Mission on the Internet at www.gov.pe.ca/development/trademission.

Team Atlantic, a trade mission to four of the New England states, is an initiative of the Conference of Atlantic Premiers designed to encourage companies to explore new business opportunities offered through exporting.

Participants in the Mission representing four Atlantic Provinces are schedule to visit four New England States from April 12-16. The mission will be lead by the four Atlantic Premiers — Pat Binns, Premier of Prince Edward Island; Russell MacLellan, Premier of Nova Scotia; Camille Thériault, Premier of New Brunswick; and Brian Tobin, Premier of Newfoundland.

Ten companies from each province will also be travelling on the mission focusing on exploring the potential, the opportunities and the possible partnerships that could be established between these two coastal markets. The web site includes detailed information on the mission, news releases and biographies of the four Premiers, New England Governors and keynote speaker Sir Graham Day.

There is a long history of trade relationships between Atlantic Canada and New England, but what is unique about the Team Atlantic initiative is the export experience of the participating companies. While they all have the products and the capacity to participate in international markets, most of the companies have not yet embarked into the export arena.

Team Atlantic is an initiative of the Conference of Atlantic Premiers and is being funded by the Canada/Atlantic Provinces COOPERATION Agreement on International Business Development, a pan-Atlantic trade agreement between the federal government — represented by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Industry Canada — and the four provincial governments.
