Prince Edward Island food and beverage companies have joined forces with the Atlantic Superstores from both the Summerside and Charlottetown (University Ave) locations to offer consumers “Taste of PEI” gift baskets for this holiday season. Shoppers can choose from three different gift baskets that all sell for less than $20.
A seafood basket filled with canned lobster from Polar Foods, lobster paté from Acadian Fishermen’s Co-op and a Malpeque seafood seasoning from PEI Spice Merchants is available as one of the three gift baskets.
A second basket for those with a sweet tooth on your shopping list includes a dessert basket with Anne of Green Gables chocolate truffles, Neen’s Island Preserves and PEI Coffee.
Another great gift idea is the third basket that features products from seven PEI companies including Seaman’s Flavours, Anne of Green Gables Potato Chips, Andrew’s Antipasto, Neen’s Island Preserves, PEI Maple Syrup and Potato Pizzaz Spice from PEI Spice Merchants.
Larry Williams, store manager in Summerside says they are proud to showcase and promote PEI products in their store. “The gift baskets are a great idea, especially for friends and family who are living in other parts of Canada – who can resist a taste of home at Christmas time?”
“We often get requests from our customers looking for PEI products to include in their own holiday cooking or to give as a gift,” said Shawn McGillivary, store manager in Charlottetown. “The gift baskets are a great gift idea for anyone on your shopping list this year.”
This year’s PEI gift baskets promotion has been coordinated with the Superstores through Prince Edward Island Business Development, the lead economic development agency for the Province.
Jennifer Evans, marketing project manager for PEI Business Development is pleased with the Superstore’s support of local companies by offering these PEI food product gift baskets throughout the holiday season.
“We are delighted to partner with the Superstores on this exciting promotion for PEI food and beverage companies,” said Evans. “It is obvious that the Superstores see the value in supporting local producers and that their customers like to see PEI products available on PEI store shelves.”
The PEI Food Product Gift Baskets are now on sale at the Superstore in Summerside and in Charlottetown on University Avenue. A limited number of baskets will be sold over the holidays, so be sure to pick up a basket while quantities last.
