June 28, 1996 * Office of Higher Education [to Oct 1996]A special summer training and employment project through the Department of Education and the Office of Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning will provide Island teachers with opportunities to master new skills in Internet and Information Technology. The project, funded through Industry Canada, has employed eight recent Bachelor of Education graduates for the summer to develop and offer a variety of learning opportunities for teachers, in both official languages. It will also provide a range of curriculum support services to teachers wishing to integrate information technology into their classroom activities. The Honourable Paul Connolly, Minister Responsible for the Office of Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning commented, "This will offer an excellent opportunity for these recent graduates to gain valuable experience specific to their chosen career field and full summer employment. At the same time, our school system will benefit from enhanced Internet training for teachers." For further information on the project, contact Martha Burka at 368-4729. Media Contact: Martha Burka
