PEI post-secondary education students can now apply for their student loans online, said Richard Brown, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning.
“Eighty per cent of the applications we have received have been submitted online,” said Brown. “Government is extremely pleased to offer students a much more efficient application process.”
Minister Brown said the online application is user friendly and easy to complete and students can track the status of the application online as well.
“Applying for student loans online is easier and faster for the students and it’s
more efficient for employees to processing the applications,” he said.
The Minister said the department is using newspaper ads to encourage students who have access to a computer to apply online. Brown said he realizes not everyone has access to a computer and paper applications are still available at Access PEI sites and the Department of Education.
Minister Brown reminded students that their applications must be submitted by July 18 in order to guarantee they will be processed by September. For more information and to apply online go to www.studentloan.pe.ca.
