Once again, Prince Edward Island exhibitors have demonstrated they rank among the top in competitions at the 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
There were several Island entries in the popular giant vegetable classes. In the carrot root by weight section, Trevor MacDonald, Murray River had an eighth placing with an entry weighing 3 lbs, 2 oz. Taking a ninth spot was an entry by Cecil Godfrey, North Wiltshire, weighing 2 lbs., 14 oz.
In the potato by weight division, Trevor MacDonald came away with a fifth place ribbon for a potato weighing 1 lb., 14 oz.
Again this year, the Island took a leading role in the lamb carcasses class. Doug King of Montague slipped into a second place spot with 73 points, only one point behind the Champion’s score. George Dixon, Clyde River, took a fourth, while Leone Dixon stood sixth. Margaret MacDonald, Charlottetown came in for an eighth, while Donna Shaw of Montague pulled into ninth place.
