Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC) is reminding customers that winter storms can cause possible route cancellations and to check for alternate pickup schedules, as well as disposal options for waste and compost carts and blue bags.
Due to Tuesday’s storm, all routes scheduled for collection on January 27 were cancelled. Weather permitting, the alternate collection for Tuesday, January 27 will be provided on Saturday, January 31.
Information about Waste Watch collection cancellations is posted immediately on IWMC’s website (www.iwmc.pe.ca) and as a pre-recorded message at 1-888-280-8111 (toll free).
“We apologize for any inconvenience cancellations may cause. IWMC collection contractors and drivers make every effort to provide the best level of service possible; however, the safety of the general public and drivers is our priority,” said Gerry Moore, Chief Executive Officer of IWMC. “Winter storms create challenges for all of us and we ask your patience and cooperation during these trying times.”
Options for customers who missed collection include placing extra out for the next regular collection (limits will be waived for the next collection only) or taking material to any Waste Watch Drop-Off Centre. No disposal fee will be charged for properly sorted household material that would normally be collected curbside if taken to an IWMC depot from now until February 7. Guidelines on preparing excess cart material for collection as well as hours of operation and locations of drop-off centers can be found at www.iwmc.pe.ca or by calling Customer Service at 1-888-280-8111.
