October 2, 1997 * Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003]The Prince Edward Island Grain Elevators Corporation has announced the soybean pool price for the 1997 crop year. The estimated sales value is $390 a tonne, with an initial payment to producers of $314.50. That is the same as last year's price. Producers who were part of the pool last crop year received, in addition to the initial price, two further payments of $40 each. A small surplus is expected, and will be paid to producers when the pool is finalized. The Corporation is now taking bookings for soybeans from the 1997 crop. Media Contact: Wayne MacKinnon
