For the very first time, Trade Team PEI, in partnership with the Canadian Consulate in Guadalajara, Mexico, will conduct a Virtual Trade Mission to Mexico. The event will take place at the Atlantic Technology Centre (ATC) today in Charlottetown.
Island companies will have an opportunity to connect with key trade officials and companies in Guadalajara, Mexico to examine the many export opportunities available in this market. Throughout the three-hour long event, participating Island companies will listen to live presentations, interact with presenters and address important questions to these Mexican representatives.
“PEI is an exporting province, and Island companies who currently export understand the importance of learning about new business opportunities in different markets,” said Michael F. Currie, Minister of Development & Technology. “By utilizing the ATC as an exporting tool, Island companies can decide if the Mexican market is a market they would like to explore further by participating in a future Trade Team PEI mission planned for the Spring of 2005.”
Island companies participating in today’s Virtual Trade Mission include: Bergmark Guimond, Coles Associates, Gorman Controls, Island Controls, Atlantic Canada Home, J. Perry Inc., and Prince Edward Aqua Farms.
Representatives from Mexico, Juan Carlos Muñoz from the Canadian Consulate and Yulia Nuñez from the Jalisco Trade Development Board will be in Charlottetown for the Virtual Trade Mission.
Mexico is Canada’s third largest trading partner. Two-way trade exceeded $1.2 billion in 2002.
Trade Team PEI provides services to Island businesses to help ensure they achieve success in the global marketplace.
