Souris Hospital Board Welcomes New Physician to the Community

* Health [to Jan 2010]
David MacAulay, Chairman of the Souris Hospital Board, wishes to officially welcome Dr. Tamer Toma and his family to the community of Souris. Dr. Toma began practicing as a family physician in Souris in late February and has been building his practice over recent weeks.

Mr. MacAulay said, “Dr. Toma is a welcome addition to the Souris Hospital and Eastern Kings Family Health Centre. It has been several months since there have been three full-time physicians practicing in Souris. With Dr. Toma added to the complement of full-time family physicians in Souris, access to medical services will improve.”

On behalf of the Souris Hospital Board, Mr. MacAulay thanks Dr. Berrow and Dr. Gonzalez for their continued contribution to health services in the Souris area. “We certainly appreciate the high quality care they provide to residents. Having another full-time family physician will ease the strain they face on a daily basis,” added Mr. MacAulay.

Dr. Toma will provide walk-in clinic coverage in addition to his full-time practice. As a result of Dr. Toma’s arrival, walk-in clinics held at the Eastern Kings Family Health Centre will be increased to three evenings per week including Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Weekend walk-in clinics will increase to three per month.

“Dr. Toma has received a wonderful welcome by all hospital employees and the community alike,” noted Mr. MacAulay. “The Souris Hospital Board emphasizes the importance of everyone working together to provide quality health services to the community.”
