Social Assistance and Disability Support clients to retrieve monthly supports at designated locations

* Community Services and Seniors [to May 2015]
All clients who receive Social Assistance and Disability Support monthly supports are being asked to pick up their July cheques at designated locations, says Community Services, Seniors and Labour Minister Janice Sherry.

“Regardless of the status of the postal strike over the next few days, the Department of Community Services, Seniors and Labour has arranged for clients to be able to pick up their monthly supports on June 28 at one of the six designated locations. For clients who have opted to use the electronic funds transfer option, they will see the money in their account on the same day,” said Minister Sherry. “We felt it was necessary to take the appropriate cautionary measures to ensure our clients and vendors do not experience any interrupted service during the postal disruption.”

The department is advising clients to bring photo identification when retrieving their benefit cheque. Electronic funds transfer forms will be made available to any client or vendor who is interested in the direct deposit payment format.

The Department of Community Services, Seniors and Labour continues to encourage clients and vendors of Social Assistance and Disability Support to take advantage of the electronic funds transfer option. Participation in direct deposit is voluntary. Direct deposit forms are available at all location sites for any clients wanting to sign up for the convenient service. Minister Sherry is pleased to report that more than 40 per cent of all clients and vendors who receive payments from the department have chosen to utilize the direct deposit service.
