The Minister of Development and Technology, Mike Currie is pleased to announce that this year’s Small Business Week, October 16-21, is going to be filled with a hub of activity in 24 different locations across Prince Edward Island (PEI). PEI Business Development / Technology PEI, Canada/PEI Business Service Centre and ProfitLearn PEI are pleased to be the main sponsors for the 2006 Small Business Week.
“The line up for this year’s Small Business Week reaches out to a broad audience and spans into several communities in PEI,” said Minister Currie. “Small Business Week is a tribute to entrepreneurs. These business activities have been created as an opportunity for entrepreneurs to share their stories and talk to experts that can assist them in their efforts to develop and prosper their business.”
Some of this year’s activities include courses on “Conducting Practical Marketing Research,” “Biz 2 Biz Expo,” “Leadership from the Underground,” “Identifying your Target Market” and “How to Start Your Own Business.” The week-long activities will be held in different PEI communities and span from the Western part of the Province right through to the Eastern end.
“Small businesses produce approximately 45 per cent of GDP,” said Minister Currie. “The business community in this Province is a major contributor to strengthening our economy. It is important as a Government that we assist PEI companies by providing them with the necessary resources to realize the business potential to expand and thrive in a healthy business environment.”
