Several roads and bridges still closed due to damage from storm surge

* Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal [to May 2015]
Crews from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal are busy assessing damage to several structures and roads throughout the province this morning.

In Prince County, the Grand River Bridge on Route 12 in Grand River remains closed to traffic. In Queens County, Oyster Bed Bridge, Corran Ban Bridge and Rusticoville Bridge, all on Route 6, remain closed. Springbrook Bridge on Route 20 is open to one lane of traffic only.

A detour is in place to direct traffic around Rusticoville and Oyster Bed Bridges. At the Oyster Bed intersection take Route 251, Crooked Creek Road, to Wheatley River then turn right onto Route 224, New Glasgow Road, then right onto Route 13 in New Glasgow, then right onto Route 269 Line Road and back onto Route 6. There is also a detour around the Corran Ban Bridge. Heading south on Route 6 take a right on Route 220, Pleasant Grove Road, then left on Route 222, Suffolk Road, then left onto Route 229 East Suffolk and Millcove Roads, then back onto Route 6.

Officials from the Department will decide later today which structures will remain closed for extended periods based on the damage caused by the storm.

Officials are also asking road users to drive with caution today as fallen tree branches and debris are common on roads across the province. Drivers should slow down and be prepared to encounter objects on the roadway.
