The Government of Canada, the Government of Prince Edward Island and the municipal governments of PEI, announced today the launch of GovInfo.ca, the most complete website for government programs and services available on Prince Edward Island.

GovInfo.ca is a one-stop website for Islanders looking for government information. This comprehensive website provides an easy-to-use platform to access information on programs, services, permits and licenses of federal, provincial and municipal governments on Prince Edward Island. It is one of the first of its kind in the country.

"This valuable web site will help Islanders from one end of Prince Edward Island to the other find out who to call to access a particular program or service," said the Honourable Pat Mella, Acting Premier speaking on behalf of Minister Mike Currie, Development and Technology.

GovInfo.ca uses advanced searching techniques to provide the user with complete and exact information for a request. Users can easily and instantly find information by searching a keyword, government building, department, or community. Search results include a description of the program or service, contact information and the service location.

Shawn Murphy, Member of Parliament for Hillsborough, applauded the combined efforts of the three government levels. "This web site will improve services to Islanders by providing a single web site containing information on all services regardless of the level of government."

The web site also offers links to municipal government information, as well as information on the many towns and communities of Prince Edward Island.

"Municipalities on PEI are pleased to have worked in partnership with the Province and the federal government to establish this significant information resource," said Stan Campbell, president of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities.
