April 18, 2006 Lieutenant Governor J. Léonce Bernard and Madame Florence Bernard have announced an Open House for the general public at Government House in honour of the Queen’s 80th birthday on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 1 until 3 p.m. The Queen’s birthday is celebrated as a public holiday in several Commonwealth countries. The exact date varies from country to country, and is usually not the current Queen’s actual birthday, which is April 21. “With 2006 being the 80th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, this year is truly special,” said His Honour, Mr. Bernard. “To recognize and celebrate this significant milestone, the general public is encouraged to take this opportunity to drop by Government House and sign an official birthday book that will be forwarded to Her Majesty.” Their Honours hope Islanders will join with them in celebrating the life of the Queen of Canada.Media Contact: Virginia Flood
