A manufacturer of recyclable thermoformed products for the technology, automotive, pharmaceutical, food and hardware industries is expanding to Borden-Carleton. Quality Thermoform & Packaging will be located in the former Strait Crossing administrative building. Twenty jobs will be created when the facility is operational later this year.
"Quality Thermoform was looking for a new location to expand its operations and I am pleased to welcome them to Borden-Carleton," said Wayne Easter, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, on behalf of the Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). "This innovative company continues to develop new packaging ideas and markets for its range of products."
Quality Thermoform & Packaging's head office will remain in Toronto where it has operated since 1985. It is the only company in Canada to offer complete in-house design, full service in-house CAD/CAM and CNC tool facilities, development and manufacturing of packaging solutions.
"This is an exciting development for Borden-Carleton and for the entire province for that matter," said the Honourable Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology. "A reputable company such as Quality Thermoform is a welcome addition to our business community and the Government of Prince Edward Island is dedicated to helping them prosper and grow here."
The company is recognized as an industry leader and is ISO-9001/QS 9000 certified. The Borden-Carleton facility will serve existing and new clients in the United States and South America.
"Prince Edward Island is ideally suited to our expansion needs because of its dependable workforce and its proximity to the United States. We look forward to providing customers with our high quality products from our new facility on Prince Edward Island," said Toomas Ots, president, Quality Thermoform & Packaging Co. Ltd.
The expansion project will cost $2.8 million. ACOA is providing a $500,000 repayable contribution under its Business Development Program. Prince Edward Island Business Development is contributing $425,000 Forgivable Performance Loan to the project.
