June 10, 2009 * Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]Charlottetown residents will have an opportunity tonight to review planned upgrades to the portion of the Charlottetown Perimeter Highway from Route 2 east, St. Peter’s Road, to Route 2 west, the Malpeque Road. The proposed work includes road widening, new merge lanes, and necessary modifications to the Oak Drive overpass. Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron MacKinley says the upgrades will improve safety and efficiency along this busy section of highway. “By widening this section of the Perimeter Highway to four lanes, drivers will see a substantial improvement to traffic flow. And, as Charlottetown continues to grow, this work will maintain efficient traffic flow for years to come,” said Minister MacKinley. The public meeting will take place tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Murchison Centre on St. Pius X Avenue in Parkdale. All residents are invited to attend.Media Contact: Andrew Sprague
