February 8, 2007 * Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]Close to seventy-five Island high school students will be meeting in Charlottetown tomorrow as part of the Annual Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) Conference. Representatives from the province’s eleven SADD chapters are meeting in Charlottetown in a day-long event to be held at Murphy’s Community Centre. The conference will include presentations from the RCMP as well as Mothers Against Drinking and Driving (MADD) PEI. Topics will include drug awareness, drugs and driving, and the importance of seat belt usage. “Events like this give students the opportunity to educate themselves on all aspects of impaired driving which will help them as they, in turn, help educate their peers. The important work done by groups like SADD and MADD PEI in helping raise awareness about impaired driving prevention is to be commended,” said Transportation and Public Works Minister Gail Shea. The conference will take place on Friday, February 9 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Murphy’s Community Centre in Charlottetown.Media Contact: Jeff Himelman
