Provincial Golf Courses Open For Season

* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
The Minister of Tourism, Greg Deighan, today announced that Mill River, Crowbush, Brudenell and Dundarave will be ready and open for business Friday, May 12, 2000.

"People are waiting to hit the greens and we are very pleased that we can open this early and take advantage of the great weather and zealousness of the golfers," noted Minister Deighan. "It's a great opportunity for local golf enthusiasts to get out on some top-notch courses before the influx of tourists."

And tourists will be flocking to the courses this year as they have in the past. "Golf has become a key product for Prince Edward Island tourism," noted the Minister. "The Island has developed a reputation as a great golf destination and from a tourism perspective, it helps strengthen our shoulder seasons and to distribute tourism activity throughout the province."

The provincial golf courses are ready to go and Golf Links PEI, the agency that manages the courses, predicts that the courses will be receiving golfers at noon Friday. The maintenance people at the courses have been out preparing for the season and the ground is drying up nicely; the grass and greens are in perfect shape to begin the season.

The provincial courses are officially open for the season noon, May 12, 2000, and tee-off times can be booked by calling 1-800-377-8336 (Brudenell and Dundarave); 1-800-377-8337 (Crowbush); or 1-800-377-8339 (Mill River).
