December 21, 2015 Transportation, Infrastructure and EnergyThe project to connect the Provincial Correctional Centre to Charlottetown’s municipal water system is complete, says Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar.“The completion of this project will ensure the supply of water from a reliable and regularly-inspected source for staff and inmates at the correctional facility,” said Minister Biggar.“I appreciate the patience of staff during the time this connection was under construction.”Work to connect the facility to Charlottetown’s water supply was begun in September 2015, following a public tender call. The project was carried out by Island Coastal Services.Prior to this project the Provincial Correctional Centre was supplied with water from two wells but its use was discontinued following the discovery of naturally-occurring minerals in excess of federal drinking water guidelines.
