Provincial Cabinet Begins Annual Summer Cabinet Tour in West Prince

Premier's Office
Premier Pat Binns and the Provincial Cabinet will be travelling to the Alberton-Miminegash area today to hold the first of a series of community Cabinet meetings across Prince Edward Island this summer.

Premier Binns and the Provincial Cabinet are continuing their annual tradition of holding meetings in Island communities throughout the summer and early fall. Since the start of the practice by Premier Binns and his Cabinet in 1996, Cabinet meetings have been held in many communities right across Prince Edward Island.

“Taking the Cabinet on the road to Island communities has had many benefits for government,” said Premier Pat Binns. “Meeting with community groups and leaders in their own area and learning about their challenges and opportunities first hand helps improve the decision-making process. This is part of our continuing effort to partner with Island communities to make government more open and accountable.”

Cabinet will conduct its regular business until 11 a.m. to be followed by presentations from the Town of Alberton, the Alberton Business Association, the Alberton and Area Development Group, and the St. Edward’s Youth Group.

The Cabinet will also tour the Bloomfield Business Park, which is home to several major employers in the West Prince area. Alberton-Miminegash MLA Cletus Dunn will also attend the community presentations and Cabinet tour.
