Province congratulates Queen on historic milestone

The Province of Prince Edward Island offers congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on her historic milestone as the longest reigning monarch in British history.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a remarkable example of dedication, service and grace. Her leadership is now marked by a significant historic milestone," said His Honour, Lieutenant Governor Frank Lewis. "I am deeply honoured each day to be her representative in Prince Edward Island."

“I join Islanders in congratulating the Queen on her more than 63 years of service to the Commonwealth,” said Premier Wade MacLauchlan. “On behalf of all Islanders I have a sent a letter of congratulations to the Queen to mark this historic occasion."

Prince Edward Island has hosted members of the royal family over the years. Queen Elizabeth II and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh last visited Prince Edward Island in 1973.

"We are pleased to be hosting His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex for a working visit as part of his Canadian tour this November," noted the Premier.
