The Government of Prince Edward Island announced today, the extension of the temporary regulations for the Greenwich Special Planning Area. This decision was made to allow for further consultation with the Greenwich St. Peter's Community Planning Group.
A draft management plan for land use and development was presented to the Community Planning Group in February. Out of that meeting came positive feedback from individuals. This feedback was reviewed and will be used along with further consultation to prepare a development and management plan for the area.
"This has been an extensive consultative process over the past year and is nearing completion," says Wes MacAleer, Minister of Community Services and Attorney General. "Community input throughout the process has been invaluable and will help to ensure that the best options are agreed upon for the community.
Over the next two months, the Department of Community Services and Attorney General will be meeting with the Greenwich St. Peter's Community Planning Group for further consultation.
"I would like to thank the Greenwich St. Peter's Community Planning Group under chair Jim MacAulay for the hard work and cooperation received from them and from all residents of the Greenwich St. Peter's area," says Minister MacAleer. "I am convinced that this process will result in positive changes in the advancement of the community."
The Greenwich Special Planning Area was created to plan for the development and management of the area from a land use and development prospective. The consultation process will result in special land use and development regulations under the Planning Act to protect, enhance and maintain the natural beauty of the Greenwich area.
