Professional Photographers "Shoot-Out" on PEI

* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
Prince Edward Island will be the location for a “shoot-out” by a group of seven professional photographers, June 22-24, 2005. The photographers will travel the Island to capture photographs; some will be chosen to be used in tourism promotions by the host, Tourism PEI.

Each photographer will concentrate on their own special interests which range from people, lighthouses, beaches, golf, lobster fishing, cycling, scenic vistas, “best of Prince Edward Island” themes, and more. The group consists of freelance photographers, each with a wide range of publication credits and each has expressed a keen interest in Prince Edward Island as a photo topic. They will travel the Island from tip to tip and late June will provide the perfect timing for vibrant colours across the landscape which will highlight their varying styles of photography.

“Having a group of professional photographers travel the Island to capture images gives us a great opportunity to update our image library with a fresh perspective,” said Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism. “We are very pleased with the quality of work that they have provided in their portfolios and we’re looking forward to seeing the Island through their eyes.”

The group includes, Kristine Racicot of Ottawa, ON; Anne MacKay of St. Catherines, PE; David Falconer of Independence, OR; Doug Wilson of Kirkland, WA; Tim Peters of Boston, MA; Taylor Kennedy of both Montreal PQ and Washington DC; and Greg Vaughn of Eugene, OR.

“It’s an interesting way to gather more images of Prince Edward Island and I look forward to seeing the creative work provided by the group,” said Minister Brown.
