Prince Edward Island to Support Relief Efforts in Haiti

Premier's Office
In response to the catastrophe in Haiti, the Province of Prince Edward Island will contribute $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist in relief efforts.

“The people of Haiti desperately need the world’s assistance and I believe this contribution reflects the deep sympathy felt by Islanders in the wake of this disaster,” Premier Robert Ghiz said.

The Province will also arrange for contributions to be collected at Liquor Control Commission outlets throughout Prince Edward Island. The Commission will be ready to begin collecting donations on Friday.

“I know many Islanders want to make their own contributions to the worldwide effort to assist Haiti, and this will offer them the opportunity to do so,” Premier Ghiz said.
