Prince Edward Island to support Island student graduates in Fort McMurray

Workforce and Advanced Learning
Workforce and Advanced Learning Minister Richard Brown rose in the provincial Legislature today to express his support for the residents of Fort McMurray and the catastrophe they are currently enduring. In particular, Brown announced a recent departmental initiative to assist Island student graduates in Fort McMurray.

“While the current situation is devastating, the aftermath can be much more challenging to comprehend and move forward from,” said Minister Brown. “We are here for Fort McMurray.

Specifically, any Island student graduates, who have made their way out West to Fort McMurray, given the current situation they are facing and future challenges, I am pleased to announce that my Department has suspended their provincial student loan collections until further notice.”

Minister Brown and the Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning are committed to providing assistance where possible, and ease any financial burden for Island student graduates in Fort McMurray. Prince Edward Island will continue to keep Fort McMurray in their thoughts and prayers, and as a Province, is prepared to assist in this long journey of recovery.
