Prince Edward Island Retailers Invited to Craft & Giftware Buyers' Market

Island retailers are invited to participate in the first annual Prince Edward Island Craft and Giftware Buyers' Market being held at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, January 19-20, 2001.

More than 60 Island producers of crafts, giftware and specialty foods will be exhibiting at the show, providing a wide range of new and innovative products to sell. This event will be a great chance for Island retailers to source quality, Island-made products for the upcoming season.

The two-day event will begin with an opening seminar, "Displays that Make a Difference – Merchandising in the New Millennium," followed by a kick-off luncheon and the Buyers' Market itself. There is no cost for retailers to attend.

"I encourage all retailers to take advantage of this opportunity to see what the Island's craft and giftware industry has to offer," said Minister of Development and Technology, Mike Currie. "Our Island producers have a wonderful selection of products which are being produced right here at home – a feature many consumers today are looking for."

Planning for the Buyer's Market began following consultations with the Island's craft and giftware industry. Following those consultations, eleven initiatives were begun to encourage the further growth of craft and giftware businesses in the province.
