Premier Robert Ghiz today announced he has asked the Speaker to reconvene the Prince Edward Island Legislative Assembly on October 16, 2007, at 2 p.m.
This will mark the continuation of the First Session of the Sixty-third General Assembly which opened on July 6, 2007, and adjourned the same day, following the election of Hon. Kathleen Casey as Speaker and other appointments.
The opening day of the fall session will follow its ordinary daily routine of House business, including Question Period. Following that, the Budget Address will be delivered by Provincial Treasurer Wes Sheridan at 3 p.m.
The House will be adjourned at the end of the fall sitting in anticipation of the Second Session of the Sixty-third General Assembly in the spring of 2008, which will begin with a Speech from the Throne.
The Sixty-third General Assembly of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island continues a long history of democracy in this province. The very first assembly was held in July 1773.
