February 14, 2003 The Government of Prince Edward Island has appointed the Hon. Norman H. Carruthers to undertake an independent commission to examine Electoral Reform in Prince Edward Island. The first part of this study will look into Proportional Representation and develop various models for the purpose of engaging the electorate of Prince Edward Island in discussions about the possibility of introducing some elements of Proportional Representation within the election process of this Province. Public meetings will eventually be held across the province to discuss the issues involved. These meetings will be open to the general public and everyone is encouraged to attend one or more of these meetings to become more familiar with the concept of Proportional Representation. Oral presentations will be welcome at these meetings.
